This was once Almeia...
In ancient times humans lived in peace here. Avians and Merpeople were no different from their land-based counterparts. Power and knowledge in great variety ran freely between people. Everyone possessed their own supernatural skill and imagination. By the work of the citizens together society advanced with ease. This lasted until the days of lust.
Some humans were not satisfied with the bountiful lives they already had. They sought out more control, finding unnatural and evil ways to get what they wanted. Another small, but growing ulterior society was formed. In this world the impure and impious made their ways with the dark arts. Magic had become foul. Curses were created. Wars were waged between friends and family alike. Blood and fear ran rampant.
The spirits of the elements were saddened. They reached out through those who still kept heart. Where once there was no need for separation, the five kingdoms were created. The royal families came forward to dedicate protection to their lands, and thus were given right to keep their magical blood. Most other powers were lost, but this method and use of walls had its hurtful success…
Then defiance rose after years again. Even the spirits began to feud. While the five kingdoms remained in conflict one royal family was indifferent. Rimallo, though betrayed, refused to fight. The government and its people looked to the spirits again. The deities came to their last conclusion.
The spirits were friends and family themselves. They loathed being against each other and their children, the humans. Though they supported the passion of life that the Rimallians kept, they could not discriminate against the other lands that they still loved. They made on more attempt to bring peace to their homeland creation, one that was still left to the inhabitants to carry through.
Three spirits agreed to stay. Water, Air, and Fire left their promised blood. Land humans of royal relation were watched over by their mother Fire, and were graced by her power. Royal merpeople born for years to come would hold their father Water’s power. Mother Air would never forget to bless her children with her power. The other elements stepped away after granting a simpler way of their powers to the land. Certain individuals were allowed to learn magic enchantments when used for the good of their homes.
A society of alchemists and magicians was created to aid the royal families in protecting their kingdoms. By creating magical relics under order they could keep up the walls the countries had created to further avoid negative contact and mix. This alchemy and what power the royal families retained was they only natural magic left in the world.
So, peace had not been fully restored, and war would never leave without a trace, but this was all that could be done. If humans were ever to settle again they would have to solve their issues on their own will. This would never truly happen with the evil that had now come to exist. The dark arts returned with wider skill than had ever been imagined. Shadow magicians could tap into the power of the demons. They fell from love, and lust crawled its way back into the ages.
Now the countries are astir again. For the first time kingdoms have had to wield armies, but individuals are beginning to stand up. The lands are breaking further with new revolution. Humans aside from their countries who wish to escape rule have started a movement. On the breath of legend, this is our story. Pirates have begun their adventures, some of them even disgraced from royalty. Another land ruled only by journey is coming up, and it exists in all of our deepest wonders.
All pirates seek their pleasures. Some may not be so bad, perhaps just rebels tired of the stressed lands they once lived in, while others wish to keep all power for themselves. What side will you join? Are you in life for the materials, or living itself? Maybe you’re in it for your friends, to stand up for what you believe in. Are you greedy? How well do you trust others? Perhaps you only want to keep up the patches on the crumbling fence of your home country. Would you sacrifice all you had to save your family? Either way you can’t possibly be a typical ruffian. You’re something more, unless, you’re the most revered soldier in your country. Maybe you are a knight in shining armor. Whatever you choose, of course, you control your own destiny in this new realm of chaos…
1. Rimallo – (Rim-all-oe) This is what is left of the original Kingdom and royal family. Ruled by the ancient Kaethes, both avians and merpeople are accepted among the community. However, after a great betrayal in the past, very few land humans are accepted now. The Kaethes consist of avians and merpeople in their ancestry, but those living currently are only merpeople. As royal blood is passed into the next generation avians will appear again in time. Rimallian culture is strict in no harm to any living being. The people are vegetarians and will not fight. They are pacifists that excel in the arts of defense. There is no national military, only the powers and control of the royal family for protection. It has become a neutral land, supporting none of the other kingdoms, and the royal family tries to keep this distance for reasons of safety.
2. Aevarkest – (Eh-var-kest) After the split of the five kingdoms, this land came under the rule of the Evanses. A powerful family of avians led their kind to a scattered mountainous region, far across the Kio sea from their original home. The culture is prejudice against any human that is not avian, but there is a particular distaste with merpeople. Because of this there has always been a heavy feud with the Merlaerdin Kingdom. The Evanses are sure to keep their armies ready for attack from the Hallows, their worst enemies.
3. Merlaerdin – (Mer-lair-din) Merlaerdin is the deep ocean kingdom of the merpeople. It is ruled by the Hallows, who will allow no other kind of human to enter. This land sits in the center of the Kio sea, between Aevarkest and Rimallo. The Hallows, like the Evanses have formed a powerful military system, with use of potent magical devices included. The culture detests land humans, and yet will accept them more than avians.
4. Cintelrda - (Sin-tell-da) Cintelrda is a northern island and is ruled by the Dains. The island is open to all kinds but has strict rules. The kingdom is built around magic and their sorcerers are the best in the world. The king is easily tempered and stubborn he keeps everything in order and has tight security for his family. The island is often seen as a tourist spot because of its beautiful beaches and pristine festivals. (It's architecture is a mix between old, Greek, Roman, and Chinese. Usually the clothing is super formal)
5. Altora - (Al- tor-a) Altora is an island made of entirely humans, all other human kinds are enslaved or executed. The Island is ruled by Realda Nickawari She solely rules over the military power and controls the military directly. The Kingdom mainly focuses on military and economic control. (Not an autocracy) Realda is the only royalty left on the island and is the sole user of fire. She is searching for a husband so the royal bloodline does not die. The country is often avoided for its intense racism. (It's architecture is very British looking.)
((Enjoy our...rough "map". Water bodies will be posted eventually...NOTE: There are other little stray islands around in the sea, but we haven't listed them. The black market islands are located in the southwest.))
Characters:
. All characters must be from one of the five kingdoms and they can be human (land human), avian, or merperson. This does not, however mean they have to support their original kingdom.
. Character categories to choose from:
Pirate (“good”/mutual, or bad),
mage (either for pirates or for a chosen kingdom),
soldier (choose a kingdom and rank),
dark mage (either for a pirate or self purpose),
or normal citizen.
. Of course, good or bad titles vary by interpretation and situation…
. Lucky, and I play all members of the royal families (kingdom governments), being that we began this RP. This means we control the kingdoms (Kaethe - Rimallo and Merlaerdin. Aevarkest - Managed by Kaethe as well, co-managed by Ninjastorm45. Lucky - Centelrda, and Altora). If you create a character that follows a country, then you will be under our order.
. Royal Families have the ability in their bloodline to control one of three elements that have not been removed from their natural orientation. Avians control air, merpeople water, and land humans fire.
. Pirates do their own thing. They are rebels that do not hail to kingdoms, but if they choose they might help one. Such choices are not generally common among them. Pirates have access to the black market to obtain augmented weapons and people of magic to hire. (Note: when playing a pirate captain you are allowed to create a ship and crew that go along with your character)
. Mages may work for a royal family or may be hired by pirates. Mages have chosen the only other path of natural magic, and do not follow the greater evil of disturbing ungranted power. Mages may access remnants of the past elements to create relic stones, which may be used to enchant objects, or to give minor super natural abilities to those without them. Mage created objects are never as powerful as the raw power that royal families possess, however their variety of magic is significantly higher and more accessible.
. Soldiers are those willing to defend their countries with what they can give. Depending on the battle tactics of their lands they may be specialized to handle certain weaponry and to preform other offensive or defensive tasks. They may also be given devices enchanted by the royal mages to help them along.
. Dark mages have all the skills of mages and more. Depending on their experience they can control greater amounts of power that may even match that of the royal families. These people are the root of evil, and the creators of curses. They have fallen from the love of the spirits in order to follow their own desires. They are the rulers of lust. Having their own society they control the black market. If a pirate is willing to take the risk of trusting a dark mage, one can be hired just the same as a regular mage. Dark mages still have the widest variety of spells and enchantments.
. Normal citizens are just that. They come from one of the five kingdoms and simply want to survive. I think you understand the idea…
Use this character form:
. Name:
. Age: (since this is fantasy, characters can live up to about 200 years of age...)
. Human kind: (Land human, avian, or merperson)
. Category: (Pirate, soldier, mage, etc.)
. Kingdom (Remember, all characters still come from one)
. Physical description: (picture also, if possible)
. Personality:
. History:
. Other: (Quirks and other important information...)
Here are some number restrictions: 3 Pirate captains allowed per member. 1 mage or dark mage allowed per captain. AND, as another note; If you would like, you may join with ships created by other members (as long as you ask and are accepted first). You don't have to make your own ship. AND YET another note; If you want to be part of a royal family you will have to get permission and approval of your character first from the manager of the kingdom you choose.
Relic stones – The stones created by mages and dark mages that contain magical power. They work regardless of the possessor and their human kind and can control already existent material, or manifest new substance. Dark mages can create much more powerful stones…
Stones marked by an * can only be manifested by dark mages.
. Spirit – There was once an active spirit stone in a temple for every elemental deity. The only spirit stones that remain for their original use are those under Father Water, Mother Air, and Mother Fire. The other stones still exist in their home temples, but act now only as channels to power that mages can harness. Communications with the other elemental spirits have ceased.
. Light - create and control sources of light
. Shadow - create and control sources of darkness (as in shadow, not evil)
. Wind – air bending
. Heat – control of temperature to increase or remove heat
. Water – water bending
. Ice – bending of ice forms
. Weather – control clouds and other pressure systems
. Fire – fire bending
. Lightning – bending of electricity
. Lava stones – bending of all earthly elements
. Metal - metal bending
. Rock – bending of stone and soil
. Crystal – bending of stone crystals
. *Blood - bending of human or animal blood
. *Marionette - allows the user to control other beings. When combined with other stones it can be used to create golems, or even to reanimate the dead
. *Illusion – allows creation of visible illusion. The stronger the stone, the more tangible the illusion
. *Realm – Said to have been an alternative spirit stone for dark mages. A very difficult stone to create (only one has ever been rumored to exist) that has many functions. It can be used to call upon and to consort with spirits and other super natural souls, including those that had once lived, and those that are evil or lost. Minor teleportation and transference between realms can be controlled as well.
. Bubble - allows avians and land humans to breath underwater.
. Endurance/energy minerals- increase strength and control that merpeople have to stay in their two legged forms. Will also increase the time that avians can stand to fly, or even the distance that any sort of human can travel on their own (these “stones” come in doses of edible minerals enriched with magic from the old earth. You could suppose they act as sorts of primitive energy drinks, and thus there can be some odd side effects...)
. Aura – allows the holder to see the emotions of others in physical color
. Lantern - Similar to light stones, but specifically stones that are sources of light themselves (like lamps). They change to the users color of choosing, and are able to hover in mid air
. Healing - An alternative stone to the blood stone, with a purpose not so impure. Can be used to heal wounds, but is difficult to master. The more severe an injury the more experience is required to heal it
. Shield – A stone that creates protective bubbles to the users pleasing. It blocks out all magic (or anything, really), but the down side is that while inside its range (when encased by a shield) magic cannot be used in turn
. Communication - A new type of stone in development by royal mages, thus they are hard to come by. They are still in their earliest stages, and have much further to go before they are perfected
. Storage – This is a basic stone with the simple purpose of eliminating the clutter of having a bunch of other relic stones around. After creating, and or gathering a group of relic stones you may combine them in a storage stone, which shall then accommodate for each separate power. Separate note: This sort of stone was created by Alister the mage and can only be obtained through him
. Color – This stone can be used to change the color of things according to the users choosing. While it may have permanent affects on things that are not alive, when changing the color of living things, the affects wear off in a matter of time. It is a difficult stone to control, and if you are not skilled with it the results can be sporadic. Separate note: This sort of stone was created by Zachary the mage and can only be obtained through him
