((Okay, our main group is just planning wedding stuff, so we can ignore them right now |D))
“Alexander-.” Noland sighed, and gave a soft nod of his head to the cousin. “It is time now to think only of our people.” He closed his eyes, and then lowered his head this time. “I trust you all greatly. You know this.” It was just his usual ramble of hope and thanks and ‘truth’. “What is the worst threat to the peace here? It is unfortunate…why such a glorious land would be pitted against such evils, but perhaps good only shines through the dark shadows of the demons that despise it…But do we have to let them suffer; make us suffer any longer?” The prince’s eyes began to sparkle.
“I am tired of the deaths, tired of the threats from Aevarkest!” his voice came through with abrupt strength. A man that did not look much younger than Torin, with silvery-grey wisps, tipped golden upon his head closed his same colored eyes. “Why not finally in my age of rule we free ourselves?” Noland was obviously passionate about this. “Down to business, though?” and once more he sighed. “Sir Hilderic-”
The prince turned to the man with gold and silver hair, and followed around the table of nobles, greeting them by their last names. There were five officers, and four mages as loyal partners in battle. The general, Sir Holbrook was his own mage, and was close friends with the prince in place of some alchemist or magician. But the fifth officer, Torin, was looked down upon at times by the others. It was not his personal (and outstanding at that) understanding and skill with healing magic that upset them. It was who he was willing to help…not just his own kind that he was passionate for. He had broken in before, in some past scene, and felt for the avians. He let them escape, or mended their wounds…these were only said to be rumors, though he knew they were true. He could not say unless he wished to give up all that he had ever known.
“Windsor and Wake, I thank you all for coming.” Noland rubbed his hands over the arms on his chair and sighed. “Nathaniel and I have been discussing our plan of action for a while now, and I believe we agree well on what there is to do.” He was switching to friendlier terms considering all of their names. “And yes, all of our other fleets have been brought for this. This shall be the most important time in our lives. With our greatest enemy suspended the rest shall be…with hope…smoother.” Again he sighed. “Of course, we will all be planning this together, and have been for awhile until this official date. Oh, but Torin, you have missed some of our previous meetings. Let us give him an update.” Noland smiled anxiously, and that made Torin frown. No one had informed him of anything important to attend.
“Torin, we have all found it best that Ivana and I, for the greater risk to come join with you and Alexander in defense.” The man with silver hair spoke up easily. The woman mage woman at his side nodded with a serious look. “This to happen, we will be an equal team.” It was like he had to remind Torin, though Torin thought it a bit rude, as if he had been called arrogant by this other officer. “Our Cintelda, Altora, and Aevarkest tiers; Adriana (as the most obvious), Richard, and Elton will band together to take on the avian system from the inside out. Though near the water the coast is our strong front, should we begin our mission there we would only chase them further into the land that suits them. It would give them the advantage.” The Prince stated. “We must begin in the mountains at the center of Flesic Island, though not directly attack Evantel. Yes, Adriana?” The woman officer nodded at him with a smirk. “You know the land best from all of us. In fact, Nathaniel and I shall team up with you and Jason for the final remnants of it all, to take down the royal family and the capital. I…I think it shall be my responsibility to…” Noland paused and thought about something deep.
“Like I have taken this land into my hands, granted by my parents and what responsibility is truly mine…I could not be more passionate about it, you all know. As I lead you all, Prince Cain leads his fell people. He is the demon at the missing heart of their military system, we have learned this, and it shall be source to source. I must be the one to see his sinful blood upon my hands. For that harsh truth I must ask forgiveness, but then…then the ultimate blessing shall be ours.” Noland Errol sniffled. “Peace…peace!”
Sir Holbrook patted his back, and he straightened out. “Your Majesty, we understand this.” Maksim and Ivana smiled together, though they did not realize. Richard chuckled, and soon the others, all but Torin and Alexander joined in. “Torin, you seem worried…” Noland frowned. “Of course I am worried. I-” “You only mean well.” This time Noland was trying to be oblivious, so that they could focus on the larger subjects instead of tension.
“Elton and Richard will bore the clearing surrounding Evantel. This ring will be chased back any outer avian fleet, further and further to the coasts where they may drown or surrender with any luck. If they want to attack us, Makism and Torin will be there to finish off what is left. Torin, as always you and Alexander shall be the main protectors directly here, with Maksim and Ivana still a force of attack if needed. For safe measures you two shall stay in the middle ground just on the front of Torin’s field, but between our nation and Aevarkest. This way the…(pardon me for a lack of better words) leftovers will face your first, hopefully on their last stands with no way to frighten our civilians. Torin, with all planned and well, no one will pass by you, and the innocent people will never have to care or worry.” Noland took a breath. Torin’s frown was heavier, but then lightened as he continued to listen. “As said, Adriana and Jason, and Nathaniel and I, well shall take the remaining weakened circle of the capital. Even on familiar turfs it should be that this would turn difficult for the royal families dying army. I have ben practicing with my power. If I must I will drown them there, or drag them to the coast. But I know…that Cain Evans…” The Prince was quiet once more. “Forgive me, I mustn’t be so open with terrible things. It will be my responsibility. That will be my duel with evil.”
Torin watched the others agreeing, and he was not surprised. He had to tell himself that he would only be protecting people. If he could help it he wouldn’t have to see any battles come his way, but then there was to think of all the glad slaughtering the other tiers would be performing. He could not be sure what he felt. “Alexander, you won’t even have to touch the shore. We’ll take care of those avians for you. We’ll get your revenge.” Elton gave off a mean laugh, one almost mocking Wake and his current situation. The bronze-eyed mage sitting next to the officer simply smiled over in his direction with some dark veil in his look. “And you can stay and relax. No worries. No more worries at all, ahahaha!” “Elton, that is what we hope.” Noland’s smile was a small amount sad. “But, let us continue…”
More certain planning was to go on that evening, for several hours. From the basic information that had just been given, named moves and missions would be set out; the paths marked on maps. Torin agreed with no thought of it deeply because he was required to. The first attack would begin in two weeks. It was enough time to prepare the military, all of the men and women serving, and to inform the people. Noland was sure that the best to happen was to come.
“Of course our siblings do not speak.” Light trembled. Ice looked over at fire oddly, “Did you not know of my return, Sister? I was freed, as was planned…” “Sister, you know we desire the power to return freely to the deserving.” Air spoke up in an almost invisible form. Her chilly puff of air grew warm as she approached the blazing, earthly woman. “David Edward Rimald, is he the only one you wish now to be gifted of you?” Air was confident in asking. “Now is the time as we have thought.” Light was still uneasy. “I am tired of them all…” he spoke of the mortals and their ridiculous quarreling.
The Spirits spoke this way together with ideas breaking and slipping into new subject and conversation at every word. It was because they all knew each other well and were ancient, and because they shared some higher form of understanding. There was not always reason to be detailed or direct. “Shadow has spoken to me.” Ice nodded as he toyed with some cold block in the palm of his hand. “After our two are together. Let the wedding happen.” Water swam through the sky close to Air. “But that young Hallow and Evans…” “Ice, what was it you wanted of that Ander?” “The face to that demon mortal of Tiloh’s.” “But I was watching. Daesha has patrons working in the midst of the war to come.” “Then we must free our sister soon! Let us lead them to Shadow!” “I thought of Ander, but what of that Luther? That…” “Ah, but we are going so ahead with ourselves!” Light shook his head, after worrying about Shadow. The other Spirits quieted. He and Shadow were the elders of the siblings.
“We know what is most certain to come, but we must save what our mission is to our children here. Air, Water, I know your plan. Ice too, but Fire you have not said much to me, and what about the others? Well, we will free them.” “Ah, my odd little Ward.” “And that poor Kaethe boy…” Maxwell Anthony will be so stressed! I do not wish for it to tear him. Ah, this will be forcing much upon the Xindor dwellers!” “Where shall we send them next?” “The obstacles may be small to us, but what we may see as so whole, there are many overwhelming parts for them to suffer through…” “I think the new Kaethe Prince shall possess my blood. I will ask that he be my patron when the time comes. I believe he will be a kind soul, much like his uncle.” Light looked across the land from where he stood delicately on the top of Rimallo’s highest mountain. It was the place he had first touched the Earth along side Shadow and the other spirits. “We must know what the others think, to see whom they will find patrons in…I do not think that boy shall be the only one to receive my power. There are others who…who are gracious. But what do you think, Shadow?” he spoke to her, knowing she could not reply at the moment.
