You read a posted sign before anything else happens:
Important!
. All members must pass this test before they can leave The Sky! Until then it is for their own safety that they refrain from any outside conduct. (Responses are to be sent to Kaethe in a PM.)
. Members who have not passed are advised to continue practice and to return for the test when they are ready. Until they succeed they may retake the exam to their contentment. Also, members who have passed may retake the test if they ever feel the need for the entertainment, or perhaps if they desire to return to a heavier practice.
. There are three sections of this test: The information portion, the multiple-choice/short answer portion, and the open-ended portion, all taken separately and in order.
. The information portion is a simple survey so that staff members may get to know you a little as an individual. It’s all part of being friends here. This portion does not count to your final outcome.
. The multiple-choice/short answer portion is a bit random, but you have to take it. It may or may not affect your final outcome…
. The open-ended portion will involve your imagination. It is the most important section in terms of your final grade, and is a sort of roleplay in itself.
“Ok, let me clear a few things up for you.” Lloyd walks you into an area full of blank clouds. “You have your name established here now, but it doesn’t mean you’re known.” He holds his arms out to the vapor, and appears to be thinking. “If you pass you’ll have no trouble with that. If you don’t pass, maybe its for your own good that you practice a little more.” His smile is kind. “I’ve said that, yes? No matter how many times you may fail you are welcome to try the exam again when you are confident and ready. And until you do, you’re more than welcome to observe the rest of us on our adventures, maybe to give you a boost or an idea.” With his nod the clouds move more significantly. What is he doing?
Part 1:
A thin sheet conjures from a wisp near your head. It is a hologram and there is a virtual keyboard for you to use. “Ah! That’s the first part!” Lloyd crosses his arms and waits. “I’m sure you know how to fill out a form. When you’re ready just submit that in a message.” His nod reassures you to take your time. “This may be the shortest portion of the test, but there’s no rush. However, no matter how silly a question may seem, or if we may already know something of you, you must answer.” Looking over the organized screen it reads as so:
Name or calling:
Human type (land human, avian, or merperson):
Gender:
Birthday (Day/Month):
Do you speak more than one language? If so, which languages?:
Favorite color(s):
Favorite animal(s) (if you like animals):
Favorite genre of music (perhaps some of your favorite musicians, too):
Favorite school subject:
Favorite genre of roleplay:
Other things about yourself (a paragraph or two):
Part 2:
“All right, you’re through that!” Lloyd smiles and nods. A lovely breeze whisks away the first screen just after you click “send”. But then… “That new screen is the second portion of the test, and the last that will simply require you to type and answer questions.” Something sparks in his stare. He is planning. You can almost see the ideas roll around your reflection in his glasses under the ever-changing clouds. So, he is analyzing, making a first impression. “I only suggest that you begin to warm up your imagination. The last section will be much different.” He shifts his feet and leaves you to continue. Time for more of the exam:

Well, some of those questions were a bit odd. Were they really relevant? No matter! Time for the final section…
Part 3:
“Congratulations on making it this far. That wasn’t too bad, huh?” a gentle laugh catches your attention. Lloyd must have moved while you were still filling things out. He is staring at you from behind the hologram, blue eyes curious. Another breeze pushes away the last pixels and your sight becomes clear. “Pay attention, now…” the clouds are stirring again under his control. “I hope you’re ready. Keep an eye on your messages. I’ll take you to your “inbox” now, where the final session of your exam will take place.”
Everything around you, in an instant is covered in a single swoop of ink. Pitch-black, you are left alone. That was awfully sudden. Could you be going mad? “Don’t worry. I’m still here. This is just…the real test.” The ambient voice of your instructor remains. “Just wait a moment…” a procession of beautiful, flowing sounds comes about, as if some computer program is at work. The sound begins to concentrate at a central location. This place has a center? But nothing is visible. It’s like you have been buried, or the darkest blankets have been thrown over your eyes. Until…
The pooling noises give birth to a blinding orb of light. “What is with this place and shiny things?” Lloyd laughs again at his own rhetorical question. “You could consider it our magic, I guess. Imagination is a beautiful thing, after all, and what could be more beautiful than a star, or the sun? Good spirits have the tendency to feed from light, and so…” he pauses. “Well, for now that is beside the point. That thing there, that’s a portal. Once you enter you will be placed into a scenario based on some things you responded to before. You can never really know what will happen, so I’m warning you.” He continues to speak. “You can go through when you are ready, but it also may be a while before you are allowed to return…I wish you luck!” with his last words he signs off.
What’s next is up to you. Go forth when you feel comfortable. This challenge ahead will be a small roleplay to test your reaction and style. Show us what sort of an imagination you have! (Since you are in your “inbox” this section of the test will take place in a message. You’ll see a PM from Kaethe labeled “Exam, Part 3” with further instruction.) When the test is done your results will be given to you personally through another message. Again, have fun, and good luck!
